What Do Three Experienced Virtual Assistants Chat About?
I was so excited recently to be part of a trio of experienced Virtual Assistants chatting in a VA Round Table podcast put together by Darlene Victoria of A Virtual Perception, sponsored by Virtual Assistant Forums. Fellow guests were Lee Drozak of My Office Assistant and Lily Chambers of The Virtual Office Goddess. The theme that seemed to evolve throughout the discussion is “It’s a sprint, not a marathon!” Topics we discussed include:
- ins and outs of creating your referral program,
- asking for referrals,
- asking for and posting testimonials,
- handling distractions,
- sticking to shcedules,
- your working envitornment,
- how marketing efforts evolve over time,
- fitting in networking, and
- elevator speeches.
Download A Virtual Perception and listen in as we chat, laugh, and share ideas! Thanks, Darlene, for putting this all together! You are a whiz at creating podcasts!
New ‘Lifestreaming’ workshop (with 30% discount till Friday!)
You may have read my post the other day Lifestreaming: The new future of blogging? A lifestream is a new style of blog which contains all of your social media elements all in one spot so interested followers can keep track of all that you are doing around the internet. Are you a Social Media virtual assistant and ready to add a new service to your menu? Or, are you a virtual assistant ready to take your own blog up a notch by transforming it into a lifestream? Erin Blaskie is offering a brand-spanking-new “Lifesteaming Workshop.”
In the Lifestreaming Workshop, you’ll learn how to:
- Design your lifestream so that it integrates all of your likes and interests into one place effortlessly.
- Determine which plug-ins you want to use, what is needed, what works with which social media sites and more.
- Install, integrate, setup and test widgets, plug-ins and add-ons that allow the seamless integration of sites to your lifestream.
- Strategize what you want integrated, how you’d like the data to appear and any other questions / strategies you want to discuss.

2 High-Impact, Low-Cost Learning Opportunities To Boost Your Blog
WOW, 2 hot opportunities were announced this week that I just had to pass along! Do you want to start a blog? Or, do you have a blog and want to give a big boost to your traffic?
Opportunity #1: Kelly McCausey’s FREE Blogging Internship for her network of work-at-home and mom-friendly blogs
You may have heard me say (about 100 times) that early this summer I completed a free 10-week internship with Kelly McCausey on her WAHM Talk Radio blog. I spent about 100 hours learning blogging techniques and have already seen the payoff. Kelly has opened up her next internship program which will begin in August and run for 10 weeks. Limited spots are available (like 6-10) so you’d better hurry to apply online here.
Opportunity #2: VAClassroom’s brand-new Blog Marketing Mini-Course
As VAClassroom.com owner Craig Cannings says regarding blogs, “The saying ‘If you build it, they will come’ does not neccessarily apply!” And it’s so true. You can have the fanciest blog around, but if you aren’t marketing it correctly no one may come. The things you will learn in this new mini-course can be used on your blog, or you can add “blog marketing” to your menu of services for clients. Either way, $67 for both a self-paced and live component 2-week course is a small investment. But wait! With this special DISCOUNT CODE: VABLOG, you’ll receive $10 off! As of today only 28 seats remain so run on over and sign up for the Blog Marketing Mini-Course.
#FollowFriday Virtual Assistants who are smart about technology
#FollowFriday isn’t just for Twitter anymore! Here are my picks for Virtual Assistants that are smart about technology stuff:
@DarleneVictoria – I need to learn a lot more about how to incorporate audio and video into my internet presence so I am trying to learn from Darlene Victoria of D. Victoria Virtual Assistance, also the host of A Virtual Perception podcast.
@KenaRoth- Kena Roth of Virtually Assisting You has figured out how to be a 100% mobile VA, and is a whiz at social media management for clients. I’ve only mastered receiving email on my phone so I gotta learn more!
@jkvirtualoffice- Kimberly LeRiche of JK Virtual Office Resources manages social media for clients, including a focus on digital content management including photos, images, and video. I still have only basic skills when it comes to digital content so I learn a lot from Kimberly!
@Sundi_MOZ – Sundi Hayes of My Office Zilla has mastered working “in the clouds,” all on the internet and accessible from anywhere. I think this is where we’re headed over the next few years and Sundi is ahead of the curve!
Lifestreaming: The New Future of Blogging?
Digg, Delicious, Technorati, Stumble Upon and others? The new solution is to bring all social media platforms into one place, creating a new super-blog called a “Lifestream.” Erin Blaskie of BSETC gives an outstanding overview of what lifestreaming is all about.
Use AlternativeTo To Find Other Software Options
This handy tidbit was discovered by fellow Virtual Assistant Jackie Moulis, The Grammatical Geek. She proclaims herself to be a word nerd and computer geek rolled into one! You can find Jackie on Twitter @GrammaticalGeek.
From Jackie…”AlternativeTo will help you find substitutes to some big name software. Dreamweaver too expensive? Check out a list of comparable software that might be cheaper or even free. Don’t like a current software you’re using? Check out a list of alternatives that provide the same functionality. The site includes user reviews.” You can also search for alternatives to mobile applications.
Thanks, Jackie!
