Note to self: Stop writing boring blog posts

Tapping a Pencil

So I have completed Week #1 as a blogging intern with Kelly McCausey at Work at Home Moms Talk Radio.  There I am blogging about anything related to working at home – a topic near and dear to my heart!  There I am meeting a great group of very supportive WAHM’s.  Along my 10-week blogging journey I will share with you what I learn along the way!  So far this week I have learned three very important things…

1.  Make use of the “More” tag in your blog posts.

So that your blog landing page doesn’t get to be too long (thus take too long to load in someone’s browser), break up your posts by using the “more” tag.  Just like I have done in this post!

2.  Add photos to your posts to grab your reader’s interest.

Seriously, I rarely do this!  How boring am I? If you use WordPress, there is a great plugin called Photo Dropper. It allows you to easily search Flickr and import photos that have a “Creative Commons” license and can be used for free.

3.  Be prolific.  Write, write, write!

In order to take your blog up a notch, you need to publish a post most days of the week.  (Huh, that sounds like what they recommend for exercise too.)  Not every posts needs to be long or brilliant; perhaps you can just pass along a great link once in awhile.  If you’ve got several ideas coming to you at the same time, write a couple of posts at a time and set them to publish in a few days   :-)

I am so excited to see what there is to learn next!
